Welcoming the Odisha High Court’s verdict on illegal constructions in Cuttack, the Utkal Bharat on Thursday opposed the Cuttack Bandh call given by Shanti Committee and demanded that the district administration and police take strong and stringent action against the persons responsible for the strike.
The bandh was totally anti-public and an act of vested interests. “We demand strong and stringent action against the persons who obstruct enforcement of law by observing bandh and applying other methods,” said Utkal Bharat State Youth President Abhishek Joshi. Encroaching and acquiring Government lands without permission of the authorities is against law and the law breakers must be punished, he added.
In Cuttack, he pointed out, several clubs, religious halls and community centres are constructed illegally on Government lands. In this matter, the High Court had given an order to demolish all illegal construction in the city.
