The US-based AlCOR company has proposed to set up a manufacturing and assembly unit for helicopters in Odisha with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore. The company would employ around 5,000 people within a span of seven years, sources said.
“The State Chief Secretary has convened a meeting on October 14 to consider various aspects of the proposal made by the company,” said General Administration Department Additional Secretary UC Kar.
The meeting would discuss provision of land to the company for setting up the project. Revenue Department and Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha were asked to identify suitable land for the project, said he.
