About 2,979 of Dhenkanal and 427 of Angul urban landless got RORs due to a sustained campaign by Bhumihina Praja Samiti State president Er Debashisha Hota.
2,282 landless from Dhenkanal Municipality, 478 from Bhuban NAC, 144 from Kamakhyanagar NAC, 75 from Hindol NAC, 257 from Angul Municipality, 116 from Talcher Municipality and 54 from Athamallick NAC are in the list of beneficiaries.
Here it is noteworthy that, earlier 38, 859 rural landless in Dhenkanal district had got RORs for Er Hota’s initiative. Even thousand supporters of Er Hota had walked 20 km from Kamakhyanagar to Khatuahata on December 27, 2016, when they heard about detention of Er Hota during his movement for the cause of the landless. They were lathi-charged.
Since March 2015, the forum has been organising demonstrations in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bolangir, Angul and Dhenkanal demanding homestead lands for all landless residing in urban as well as rural areas of the State.
