In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old unwed mother with the help of her parents allegedly killed her baby minutes after giving birth to it on a road near the NTPC guest house in Talcher on Sunday broad daylight.
local people caught the trio while they were fleeing the place in an auto rickshaw after throwing the child on the NTPC plant wall side. later, they handed them over to the local police.
When the girl accompanied with her parents went to the Kaniha hospital for delivery, the hospital staff members advised them to go to the NTPC Hospital. However, while on the way she gave birth to the child on road. later, the trio killed the child and threw it out to avoid social stigma.
As the unwed mother is hospitalised at a hospital in Angul due to heavy blood loss and her mother is attending her there, the NTPC police detained the father of the unwed mother. Investigation is on to ascertain who actually had initiated the crime.
