Janani Sewa, which provides baby food, milk and hot water, is now available in Baleswar railway station. Besides, there is a breastfeeding room in the waiting room and similar facilities would be available in other stations in phased manner, said Chief Public Relations Officer, SE Railway, Sanjay Ghosh during interaction with the mediapersons.
Ghosh informed a series of welfare measures and action plans undertaken by the division. He stated that efforts are on to provide mobile phone charging facility in all trains. Besides, during the coming Dussehra, the division plans to run about 130 trains to different destinations and some of them would have stoppages at Baleswar, he informed.
Most importantly, Ghosh mentioned that the SER targets to abolish all unmanned level crossing under its jurisdiction by 2019 as they were the major cause of accidents.
He also informed that in the last fiscal year, 120 level crossings have been removed and in the current 185 more would be removed.
Ghosh said, “Either over bridge or limited height subways are created instead of the unmanned level crossings. In some cases, the level crossings are manned. However, after 2019 there wouldn’t any unmanned level crossing.”
He further stated that the passenger should use the toll free number 138 and 182 when required. Besides they can use App COMS to lodge complaint.
