Members of the Social Unity Centre of India (Communist) Cuttack district committee held a demonstration here on Saturday against the Interim Union Budget 2019 terming it as anti-farmer, anti-worker and pro-corporate houses.
“The Central Government has only assured to provide Rs 6,000 per annum to farmers but it has made no provisions for checking distress sale of crops and setting up cold storages,” alleged the members.
They also alleged that the Government has not taken any step to provide employment to youths.
The party’s district secretary Biswabasu Das argued that the income tax exemption would create problems through the price hike and GST.
Among others, SUCI (C) district member Khageswar Sethi, Basant Nayak, Sidhartha Rath, Bhagyarabi Das, Deepak Das, Binod Sethi, Pavel Pridarshini and Subhasmita Sahu were present.
