The Nilgiri police on Sunday recovered body of an unknown woman, aged around 35, from the Tinikoshia forest under its jurisdiction. Some villagers who had gone to the forest for firewood collection found the body.
On being informed, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. A scientific team carried out on-the-spot investigation with a dog squad. The woman was found in her petticoat and blouse while her shoes, vanity bag containing two mobiles and cosmetics and saree were lying at a distance. The body bore a number of injury marks. “The body is yet to be identified. This could be a rape and murder incident,” suspected Nilgiri SDPO SP Mallick. He also suspected that the crime might have been committed at some other place. The body has been sent for autopsy. A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is on, Mallick said.
