The genuine problems of bank retirees need to be arrested by the concerned bank managements at the earliest, opined MP Baijayanta Panda while addressing as chief guest in the 1st triennial conference of the All Odisha Bank Retirees' Federation here recently.
“During last four decades, the services rendered by the bank men in our country are note worthy and most of them are now retired from active service. In recognition to their past dedicated service to the nation, the problems faced by them after retirement should be resolved with full sense of compassion,” said Panda.
He assured that he would place their grievances before the Central Government inside and outside the Parliament.
President of All India Bank Retirees' Federation (AIBRF) SM Deshpande inaugurating the conference stated that the issues relating to bank retirees must be discussed and settled through bi-lateral discussions with retirees' organizations.
He stated that grave injustice has been meted out to the bank retirees on three counts- discrimination in dearness allowance and family pension and no revision of basic pension since 1995.
In case of Central/State Government pensioners, the basic pension is updated/revised at the time of every pay revision of serving officers/employees but in case of bank pensioners the same has not been revised/updated during last 20 years even as wage of serving employees/officers has been revised four times during the period, he lamented.
He further informed that the AIBRF will organize a massive rally of bank retirees in Mumbai on February 10 and dharna at in New Delhi during ensuing Budget Session of the Parliament to press for bank retirees’ demands.
