Undertrials stage dharna, protest apathy in K'pada

Three undertrial prisoners while coming to appear in court on Thursday staged a dharna protesting against the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case.

They alleged that since the IO was skipping court despite being summoned several times, their trail was delayed.

They were identified as Sk Kadir alias Munna, son of hardcore criminal Hyder, Silpataru Swain alias Kata Dipu of Jayachandrapur and Debendra Swain of Kuturanga village of Nikirai.

They said that as IO Pramod Kumar Singh of Pattmaundai Police Station remained absent from the court on the case trail dates, the case was lingering.

Though the CJM court has already examined all the witnesses during the trail of the case but the court is yet to examine the IO,” stated Munna.

Notably the trio had been arrested and jailed for threatening contractor Sarbeswar Sahu of Damodarpatana under Choudakulat police outpost in June, 2014 and later hurling bomb at Sarbeswar’s house on June 10, 2014.

When contacted, IO Pramod Kumar Singh stated, “I do not have any intention to harass the prisoners or to waste the court time.”
