Dasarath Mallick (50) of Binjharpur village in Jajpur district, an under-trial prisoner in sub-jail in Jajpur town, died on Sunday after a brief illness.
He was undergoing treatment in the district Government hospital. The cause of Mallick’s death is not yet known. The postmortem report is awaited. The deceased had been arrested last year on the charge of killing his elder brother. “We have informed his family members about his death. The body will be handed over to them after its autopsy,” said Superintendent of the Jajpur Sub-Jail Bailochan Dash.
