Undertrial jumps over Ganjam jail boundary wall, escapes

An undertrial escaped from the Special Sub-Jail at Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district jumping the wall on Sunday.
Biswanath Nayak (35) of Badangi village had been lodged at the jail since 2010 in an attempt-to-murder case.
He was believed to have jumped the jail boundary wall by pretending to pluck flowers for celebration of Hanuman Jayanti in the jail, jail officials said. “We have intimated the incident to the police,” said jailor UN Patra. On February 12, at least two undertrial prisoners had also escaped from the same jail after gunning down Kalia Swain, one of their co-inmates. The police had rearrested the duo after an encounter with them some hours after the incident.
