An under-trial prisoner (UTP), Laxmidhar Behera (50) of Oranda village under the Gurudijhatia police limits who was lodged in Athagarh Sub-Jail since September 7, 2016, died of illness on Tuesday. He was suffering from gall bladder blockage leading to cancer and was admitted at the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack. Jail Superintendent Sameer Sahoo said that the UTP was admitted to the SDH, Athagarh on December 31 last when he complained of the ailment. Later, he was referred to the SCB. Laxmidhar was remanded to jail by the Athagarh SDJM on charges of crime under Sections 498 (A), 323, 306,304 (B), 406 of IPC.
