Four women teachers of a Government high school in Sundargarh have faced action for their alleged unauthorised absence in the school during visit of Joint Secretary of School and Mass Education Department on Saturday. Besides being issued show cause notices, the salary disbursement of these teachers has been directed to be stopped till further orders.
Sources said Joint Secretary Indramani Tripathy, who is also the nodal officer of Sundargarh education district, was scheduled to visit Sundargarh for inspections of different schools on July 16 last. Accordingly, the district education office had sent messages to all the schools. During his visit to Bargaon High School, he found four woman teachers to be absent. When asked why they were absent, headmaster Satyapriya Patel failed able to give a suitable reply.
The teachers who faced music were identified as Sabita Das, Sabita Hota, Sarita Barik and Swati Priya Sahu. During the inspection, the Joint Secretary had also come to know that two of four absent teachers are staying at Rourkela, following which, he had directed to stop payment of house rent to those two teachers. Accordingly, the Block Education Officer of Bargaon block issued show cause to these teachers on Monday.
“As per the direction of Joint Secretary, all four woman teachers have been served show cause notices and have been informed about stoppage of their salary,” said District Education Officer Dhruba Charan Behera.
