Members of the Umarkote bar staged a demonstration in front of the Tehsil office here on Sunday demanding immediate posting of a permanent Tehsildar.
With the post of Tehsildar having been lying vacant for more than five months, people are facing various problems and revenue-related work has got stuck. Presently, the Block Development Officer of Umarkote is acting as in-charge Tehsildar who is always found busy in other works in the block office.
The people used to visit the Tehsil complex return their home without their purpose being served.
Bar president BK Sahu demanded immediate appointment of a permanent Tehsildar.
He said Umarkote is a busy station having sub-divisional status. People used to visit the Tehsil office for various works; and in his absence, they approach the Additional Tehsildar, who deals with some limited works.
People are compelled to visit the Block office, which is located about a kilometer away from the Tehsil office, to get their works, including sale and purchase of land, done.
BDO-cum-Tehsildar Tarani Suna came and discussed with the bar members and assured them to apprise the people’s problems to the concerned authorities.
