The Utkal Sammilani on Friday lamented that the State Government is not giving protection to the people living on the State’s borders. While the Polavaram controversy has not been settled yet, the Chhattisgarh Government’s project of a long barrage over the Mahanadi on the border of Odisha is an additional headache for the people of the State, the Utkal Sammilani said.The Sammilani questioned why Odisha should suffer for these two projects of the neighbouring States. It may be the lack of willpower of the political parties or lack of technological knowledge in Odisha, said the Sammilani.
“If the Chhattisgarh Government can obstruct the Mahanadi water then why the Odisha Government cannot divert the water of rivers Saberi and Sile,” asked Sammilani Mancheswar Industrial Branch president Dillip Dashsharma, adding that barrages over rivers Saberi and Sile should be constructed.
