Utkal Sammilani Central Committee members on the occasion of the 87th death anniversary of Utkalgaurav Madhusudan Das on Thursday garlanded his statue in front of the Raj Bhavan here. Later, a memorial meeting was held being presided over by Samiilani vice-president Gouranga Prasad Behera and attended, among others, by secretary Radhanath Praharaj. Tributes were paid to Madhubabu by the speakers.
It was demanded that for his immense contribution to Odisha, steps should be taken by the State Government to award Bharat Ratna to Madhubabu posthumously. Jitendra Kumar Padhi offered a vote of thanks.
In another meeting floral tributes were paid to the iconic figure by Utkal Sammilani Mancheswar Branch president Dillip Dashsharma, ‘Odisha Review’ editor Lenin Mohanty, advisor Niranjan Das and Nimai Charan Das. The Sammilani members displayed placards protesting the Andhra Pradesh Government changing the names of three villages of Kotia panchayat in Odisha and issuing notification for panchayat election there.
