The Utkal Sammilani has disapproved of the Central Government’s allocation of a whopping Rs200 crore in the Union Budget 2014 to build Iron Man Sardar Ballabhbhai Patel’s statue in Gujarat.
Utkal Sammilani Mancheswar Industrial Branch president Dillip Dashsharma, in a statement, said the allocation of this huge amount for a statue is not a right thing though the Sammilani does not oppose construction of Patel’s statue.Citing the Government’s neglect towards statues and memorials already existing in the country, Dashsharma said the Centre should use such huge amount of money for maintenance of these statues and memorials instead of going for a single statue.
