Coming down heavily on the Revenue Minister’s statement on West Bengal’s intrusion into Udayapur village of Baleswar district’s Bhogarai block, the Utkal Sammilani on Saturday said the statement would pose dangers for the protection of the Odisha border.
The Sammilani said a team headed by its Mancheswar Industrial Estate branch president Dillip Dashsharma had visited the infringed area and told the Minister that the report given to him by the Baleswar Sub-Collector was incorrect.
After the West Bengal Government demolished a check-gate, which was put up on the border at Udaypur by the Odisha Forest Department to check movement of motor vehicles and timber thefts in June 2013, a stay order was enforced in the area and it was also conveyed to West Bengal.
However, the West Bengal Government is now constructing a bus terminal and a boundary wall as well in the five-acre area encroached by it at the village.
Informing that the Odisha Government had constructed the road from Sahabajipur bus-stand to the coast in 1977-78 under Food-for-Work programme, Dashsharma said the West Bengal Government dismantled the check-gate claiming the road as its own.
“Hence, we demand that the Minister constitute a representative team comprising Utkal Sammilani members, locals and administrative officers, himself visit the area along with the team and take necessary action soon” Dashsharma said.
