The Utkal Sammilani has demanded that the State Government refrain from its move to close down 165 primary schools, particularly in the districts other States bordering Odisha.
In a Press release, Sammilani Mancheswar Industrial Estate Branch president Dillip Dashsharma said, “If the State Govt shuts down the primary schools, the neighbouring States will take the opportunity in ensuring teaching facility to Odia students in their respective regional languages. Instead, the Odisha Govt should take steps in ensuring enrolment of more students in these primary schools.” Notably, earlier this month, the Govt had decided to shut down nearly 165 primary schools on the ground that the schools have less than five students each.
