U Bharat urges CM to provide aid to Dana

Published on:

The Utkal Bharat demanded that the State Government provide compensation to Dana Majhi, who had carried his wife Amanga Dei’s body on his shoulders and walked down 12 km after being denied a mortuary van or an ambulance by the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hosptial (DHH) on August 24.

“The Government had announced the Mahaprayan scheme in February but actually launched it a few days ago, only after the Kalahandi and Soro incidences. Had Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the programme in February, such shameful incidences would not have happened. Hence, the Government must provide compensation to Dana Majhi,” argued party president Kharavela Swain.

He too termed the Mahaprayan scheme inauguration delay as an act of irresponsibility of the Government.
