The Utkal Bharat on Monday said it would stage a dharna in front of the State Assembly on September 22 and 23 to press for appointment of a lokayukta in the State at the earliest.
“The lokayukta Act had been passed in the State Assembly on February 2, 2014 and it received Present’s approval in 2015. After this, the State Government boasted that Odisha was the first State to pass the lokayukta Act. But disappointingly, it has not given a real shape to the lokayukta yet,” alleged the party.
The party also reminded that the Naveen Patnaik Government had promised to establish a big-size lokayukta within a month from lokpal/lokayukta Act passed by the Centre.
Utkal Bharat State youth president Jagdish Pradhan said party president Kharabela Swain and other State and district-level leaders would join the dharna.
