Two hardcore women cadres of CPI(Maoist), Asha alias Parbati Majhi alias Murmu alias Pama (22) and Sita alias Binati Majhi alias Murmu alias Chingudi (22), of the Kalinganagar Division, who were highly active in the border areas of Rourkela-Keonjhar-Angul-Deogarh districts, surrendered before the Rourkela police on Saturday.
They said they were disillusioned with the ideology of the banned CPI(Maoist) organisation, said Rourkela Additional SP Santosh Mohanty. They had joined the Maoist cadres in December 2009 under the leadership of Sushil alias Basant, secretary of Kalinganagar Division.
During interrogation, they confessed their involvement in almost all Maoist violence cases in Jajpur and Keonjhar districts since 2009.They also revealed that the Maoists under Sushil’s leadership are involved in the killing of the innocent Adivasis in the name of police informers.
They collect heavy booty from businessmen and contactors. Women cadres are being sexually and mentally harassed by the senior male cadres. They also stated that minor tribal children are utilised by the Maoists to carry out various illegal activities. Both the women cadres were carrying reward of `1 lakh each on their heads.
