Two women were critically injured after an lPG cylinder exploded at their home at lalasahi in the Badabazar area here on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident happened in the house of lawyer Nrusingha Patnaik at 5.45 amwhen the leaked gas came in contact with flame of an earthern lamp.
Patnaik’s 40-year-old wife Anita, who works as a teacher at the Hinjilicut College in Ganjam district, and his sister Gouri (52) sustained severe burn injuries in the blast.
They were rushed to the MKCG Medical College Hospital where the doctors referred them to the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack for further treatment. But the family members preferred to take them to the Seven Hills Hospital at Vishakhapatnam.
Medical sources said the two women have suffered 90 per cent burns.
