Police shot dead two local terrorists of the banned militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen in an encounter at Padgampora Village in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday afternoon. A self-loading rifle, which was snatched by the terrorists a few months ago from a policeman at a picket guarding members of a minority community, was recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.
Earlier on Saturday night, in the first incident of weapon-snatching in Jammu, two youths from Kashmir Valley managed to run away with the service weapon of a policeman. Following this, a high alert was sounded in and around Jammu and all security check points and exit routes were alerted as the incident has taken place ahead of the visit of PM Modi to Jammu on April 2.
