Police on Friday detained two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Chhatrapur CPI leader Sakura Behera (30) on Wednesday night.
The two suspects were interrogated by Crime Branch DSP Subash Chandra Acharya and SDPO Alekh Chandra Pahi.The police also seized a mouser, a pair of slippers and a bike from the spot. A scientific team had conducted an on-the-spot inquiry in the case on Thursday.In anticipation of untoward incident in Chhatrapur, 15 platoons of armed police force have been deployed in this Ganjam district headquarters town.
“We have taken up the case seriously and are investigating it thoroughly,” Ganjam SP Ashish Kumar Singh told reporters.Meanwhile, the CPI leader’s body was taken in a procession by his supporters to the laxman Bhawan after the post-mortem was conducted at the MKCG Medical College Hospital in Brahmapur on Wednesday morning.later, the body was taken to Puri where his mortal remains were consigned to flames at the Swargadwar.
