Like any other day, they had left for a morning walk on Monday, but little did they know that they would not return home this time.
Tragedy struck two sisters of Raisuan village in this district when they were crushed to death by a truck on NH-20 near the village. The duo was identified as Nibedita Das (45) and Pankajini Das (55).
Sources said the speeding truck ran over the sisters on roadside killing them on the spot.
Receiving information, a police team chased the truck and managed to nab the truck driver near the Banajodi tollgate. The cops later sent the dead bodies to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, angry locals staged a protest demanding compensation for family members of the deceased.
