The Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested a car lifter from the city for cheating the second-hand car sellers in the name of test drive. The police also seized two cars from the accused.
The car lifter was identified as Manoj Patra of Khandasahi under the Nischintakoili police station in Cuttack district. He was staying at Sishupalgarh on outskirts of the city, said the police.
According to Airfield IIC Rashmi Ranjan Sahoo, Patra was cheating car owners in an innovative way. He searched for good secondhand cars on the websites and then buying them. After creating a good perception in the mind of the car seller, he asked permission for test drive and then left the place with the car. He never returned from the so-called test drive, the IIC added.
