Two of ILS among top 2% global scientists

Dr Sanjeev K Sahoo and Dr Amaresh C Panda, scientists working with the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar have been listed among the top 2% global scientists.

This list, recently been released by the Stanford University, has the most-cited scientists across various disciplines involving 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields. It includes nearly 1,500 scientists, doctors and engineers in India. The list is based on a number of citations, H-Index, co-authorship and a number of publications.

Dr Sahoo is a senior scientist at the ILS since 2005 and well-known in the field of nanotechnology-based drug delivery system in cancer. He has more than 100 peer reviewed research papers and two US, two EU and three Indian patents on nanotechnology-based targeted drug delivery.

One of his patented technologies has been transferred to a pharmaceutical company for commercialisation.

Dr Panda joined the ILS in 2017 after his post-doctoral work in the USA. His research group is involved in molecular biology research for understanding the RNA-mediated gene regulation, particularly governing beta cell physiology in diabetes and role of circular RNA in muscle differentiation. He has more than 45 publications in international journals.

ILS Director Dr Ajay Parida said it is extremely gratifying to see the two ILS scientists recognised globally and hoped this would encourage them as well as other ILS scientists to contribute more effectively in the coming days.
