Two members of a family died and two others were taken seriously ill after taking contaminated food in a village in Ganjam district on Saturday.
According to reports, a man and his three children of a poor family at Rajpur under the Chhatrapur police station suffered from acute stomach pain and vomiting after they had dinner on Friday night.
All four of them were rushed to the Chhatrapur Government Hospital, from where they were later shifted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital in Brahmapur.
But the son and a daughter if the family who were in critical states succumbed to food poisoning on Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as Rohit (7) and Suni (12). The conditions of their father Kameswar Gouda (46) and his eldest daughter Mini (20) were also stated to be critical, reports added.
