Two Odia jawans, Purnachandra Senapati (28) of Rangaranga village under Jajpur district’s Korei block and Charan Maharana (25) of Sukunda village in Ganjam district, are among the 29 persons who are on board the missing Indian Air Force flight on Friday.

Although according to some reports, the plane has crashed into the Bay of Bengal on Friday, there is no official confirmation on it.

Senapati works as a fitter in Naval Armament Depot (NAD) of Visakhapatnam. His family members of two younger brothers, younger sister and widowed mother are in a state of shock.

“Our family is devastated by the news. We are waiting to know about the result of the search operation to locate the plane,” said Purnachandra’s younger brother Mohan.

“Our father died ten years back. We were on cloud nine the day my elder brother got a job in the Indian Navy two years back. Now, our fate hangs in balance,” added Mohan.

“We are hoping for the best and told everyone to think positively,” said Purnachandra’s mother Ujali.

The family members of Charan knew about Charan’s missing on Friday afternoon through a phone call from his friend. Charan works as a Technician in the Engineering section of the Air Force, Vishakhapatnam.

He had come to his house on July 6 and returned to office on July 11. He had talked to family members three days ago. Charan’s family members and villagers have prayed for him to come back home safely.
