The Odisha Buddhists’ Front (OBF) organised a Vipasana Camp at Old Town here on Sunday and felicitated two young Odia Buddhist monks, who are working outside the State and have brought honour for the Buddhist tradition of the State.
The monks, Buddhadatta and Dhamrnagaveshu, graced the Vipasana Camp, where more than 30 participants from different walks of life heard them speak on the fundamentals of Vipasana meditation and its need for the present time.
Buddhadatta, who is the present Principal of the Institute of the Pali and Theravada in Bangalore and a pious disciple of Buddharakshita, hails from Bhandigram village on the banks of river Devi in Puri district. Dhamrnagaveshu, who has spent 13 years in Myanmar and is an excellent teacher in Tantric Buddhism, hails from a remote village in Ganjam district.
They were felicitated for their achievements in Theravada and Tantric Buddhism and Vipasana skills.
As more and more people in Bhubaneswar are now interested in taking part in Vipasana camps, these young monks would be available in the city for rendering their services in future, said OBF president Gouri Kumar and general secretary Akhil Kumar Sahoo.
