Two new projects unveiled at Paradip Port

Published on:

As an environment-friendly measure, an auto sprinkling system in the Paradip Port harbour area for usage of water collected from the sewage treatment plant (STP) was commissioned on Wednesday.

For this, a storage sump has been constructed for collection of treated water from the STP which would in turn be utilised in the sprinkling system.  Previously, it was being done manually through tankers and this practice will be discontinued soon.

Taking a further step to make the port township disaster-resistant, an underground cabling system has been put in place; and now it is being carried out in the harbour area. Apart from this, large DG sets have been installed at different sub-stations so that during natural disasters, uninterrupted electricity and water supply in the port area would be ensured.

As per an SOP to tackle cyclonic storms and other disasters, an Emergency Response Centre was started at Gate No.4. At the time of aatural disaster, the CISF Control Unit along with port officials would function from the place to mitigate any eventuality.

A rest room for the staffs deployed would soon come up near the location.
