Two more debt-ridden farmers, who had consumed poison, died at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute Medical Science (VIMSAR), Burla on Friday.
They had been admitted at the hospital after they took poison, unable to bear the debt burden and crop loss.
The deceased peasants were identified as Makar Dhwaja Bagh of Bhatli in Bargarh district and Shaktidhar Behera of Baragaon from Sundargarh district.
While Makar was admitted at the VIMSAR on Wednesday, Shaktidhar was brought to the same hospital a few days ago after he consumed poison.
Families of the two peasants alleged that massive crop failure and burden of loans forced the duo to take the extreme step.
Around 160 farmers have allegedly committed suicide in last three months across the State. The so-called attractive package announced by the State Government for farmers seems to have clearly failed to check the rising incidents of peasants' suicide.
