Two more Cuttack temples demolished

Published on:

Resuming its drive for demolition of illegally-built temples in the city, the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) on Monday pulled down two shrines constructed on Government lands in the residential complexes at Markat Nagar.

With this, the authorities by now have already demolished at least 13 places of worship in the locality over a period of two years. The CDA had identified 35 illegal temples at Markat Nagar which have come up encroaching Government lands.

While  the trusts of at least 12 temples have obtained stay orders from the Supreme Court, the CDA authorities claim that they are determined to pull down all the illegal places of worship that have encroached upon Government lands.
