Two students aged between 13 and 14 years drowned in a pond while taking bath at Chatara Chakroda village under the Derabish police limits in Kendrapada district on Sunday.
As per the tradition, Holi is celebrated in and outskirts of Kendrapada district on Panchu Dola. The two teenaged students after playing Holi with their friends went to take bath in the nearby pond. But the duo met watery grave and got drowned in the pond while bathing.
The deceased were identified as Maheswar patra (14), a Class-IX student of the Ramachandra Vidyapitha of Fakirabad and Goutam Rana (13), a Class-VIII student of the Saraswati Sisu Vidya Mandir at Chhata.
The two were was fished out from the pond and rushed to the Chatta PHC and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where doctors declared them received dead, said IIC Niranjan Sabar.
