The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) continued its crackdown against business establishments flouting the Covid-19 protocols with sealing two shopping malls and a restaurant in the city on Thursday.
A BMC Enforcement squad sealed the Vishal Mega Mart and the Big Bazaar at the Indradhanu Market for not implementing the standard operating procedures issued to prevent spreading of the virus. The BMC officials had found several customers making purchases in both the malls during their surprise checks earlier in the day.
Besides, the Utkal Inn Bar and Restaurant located on Lewis Road was also shut down for violating the rules. A couple of days ago, the civic body had sealed five liquor shops for norm violations.
Notably, the State Government in a bid to strike a balance between lives and livelihood has allowed all shops, except malls, spas and beauty parlours, to reopen in the 10 B-category districts like Khordha that includes the capital city from July 1 to 16.
