A two-lane railway over-bridge (ROB) would soon be constructed at the Matiapada level crossing on NH-316 near the Gundicha Temple here.
The project, a longstanding demand of locals, has been approved by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, informed Puri MP Pinaki Misra on his Twitter handle on Saturday.
The district administration would soon begin land acquisition process for the 63.84-metre-long bridge, the estimates for which would be prepared for approval of the competent authorities soon, Misra said. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also Twitted, “The promise made to the people of Puri will soon be fulfilled. Construction of the ROB will help improve communication and solve various traffic woes affecting locals in the pilgrim town since long.”
