Two persons were killed in separate road accidents here on Thursday. Subash Yadav (45), a businessman while going by a bicycle, was crushed to death by a heavily-loaded truck. Soon, locals held a toad blockade demanding adequate assistance to the deceased family. The victim’s kin alleged that heavy vehicles were allowed to run on the dilapidated road causing frequent mishaps. The agitation was withheld after Jhirpani police gave a written assurance of compensation and insurance claim from the truck owner. In another mishap, one Ranjit Halda (23) of Brahmanmara village was run over by a truck at Ratanpur under Sundargarh Sadar police station, while he was going in a bike with his friend Phelin Dangua (25). Dangua sustained serious injury and was shifted to the Ispat General Hospital.
