Two persons were killed and four others were injured in a road accident near Chikatmati area on SH 10 on the outskirts of Rourkela city here on Tuesday afternoon.
The mishap occurred when a speeding car collided with three motorcycles. The injured were rushed to the Rourkela Government Hospital.
Sources said at about 2 PM, a speeding car (OD 14 K 8901), while coming from Rajgangpur side to Rourkela, had a head-on collision with a motorcycle (OR 14F 2947), near Chikatmati area after which the car and the motor cycle had hit two other motor cycles on the spot. Two riders of the first motor cycle died on the spot. Four others, including the car driver, sustained injuries.
A police team from Brahamani Tarang police station rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the Rourkela Government Hospital. The two deceased, however, had not yet been identified.
“We have seized the car and motorcycles from the spot and are investigating into the matter,” said Brahamani Tarang police station IIC SN Muduli.
