In three separate incidents on Thursday, two persons died and three others, including a school girl, sustained injuries after they were struck by lightning.
According to sources, Balama Chatar (25) of Magurganda under Kendrapada Sadar police limits died after being struck by lightning while he was going to collect firewood. Similarly, Bipin Mallick (50), a resident of Ganeswarpur under Aul police limits, died in lightning while he was returning to his house from Singhapur market. Police seized the bodies and sent them for autopsy.
In another incident, three persons, including a 8th class girl student and a teacher of Chakroda based Anchalika High school, sustained minor injuries in lightning while they were standing near the school verandah. The injured were
identified as Rita Sahu, Abhaya Nayak and Minati Rout. They were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
