The Pattamundai police on Wednesday arrested and court-forwarded two persons on the charges of attacking and injuring each other’s family members with bombs and bamboo sticks over a petty matter on Tuesday. The arrested were identified as Rajendra Mallick and Niranjan Mallick of Tamalasasan village under the Pattamundai PS’ Choudakulat outpost.
The Pattamundai police had first registered a case on an FIR lodged by Pramila Mallick, wife of Niranjan Mallick, against their neighbor Bijay Mallick’s sons Upendra and Rajendra and Dipa Mallick. Pramila alleged that Upendra along with his brothers quarreled with her after her son Tabu kicked their pet dog. Consequently, Rajendra hurled a bomb at her nephew, Santosh Mallick, and injured him. The police also registered a counter case on the FIR lodged by Jitendra. He Jitendra stated Niranjan and his son Tabu kicked his pet dog following which an altercation erupted between them. When his brother Upendra protested, Niranjan assaulted him with a bamboo stick, injuring him seriously.
Niranjan’s family members too snatched away a gold chain from one of his (Rajendra’s) female members and attempted to outrage her modesty as well. Besides, one of Niranja’s family members hurled bomb at them. “The two arrested have been remanded into jail custody. Haunt is on to nab other members of the two families,” said Choudakulat outpost ASI Basant Satapathy.
