Acting on a tip-off, the Jharsuguda police arrested two persons in connection with a theft case and recovered five laptops and four mobile phone sets on Friday.
Following a series of complaints about the laptop and mobile thefts, particularly from the young mass, a special team was formed comprising SDPO Fagua Singh, local PS IIC UC Maharana and three Sub-Inspectors to nab the culprits.
Interrogation revealed that the arrested duo was involved in several cases of laptop theft in the city for years. Manish Mourya (24) of Dipupada and Md Akram (35) of Ekatali were later forwarded to judicial custody. Burglar Manish was involved in more than 15 cases in different police station areas and Akram in one case of burglary.
Talking to The Pioneer, Jharsuguda SP Dilip Deo said, “We caught the culprits and seized the stolen articles from their possession at Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh).
After getting proper evidence, we will restore the stolen articles to their owners. As Jharsuguda is a district adjacent to Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, miscreants are coming and spreading their crime network here with support of some local criminals. We have an eye on their movement and crime will be checked in this industrial and coal belt in near future.”
