Two persons were arrested by the Commissionerate Police for gunning down Kalingaputra Real Estate and Developers managing director Krushna Chandra Nayak at IRC Village here on Monday. The third accused is still absconding, police said.

They were identified as Salila Patnaik alias Tarini and his friend Suraj Sharma alias Nepa of the city. The police arrested the duo from Old Bhubaneswar area and also seized two pistols along with bullets and a bike from the possession of the accused. The murder was the outcome of past rivalry between deceased Nayak and accused Tarini, said Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjit Singh. He added that the duo had a problem regarding land disputes.

According to the police, the deceased had attempted to murder Tarini on March 17, 2011 and had also killed Tarini’s aide Mantu. To take revenge of the attack, Tarini was in search of an opportunity to kill Nayak, the police informed. On Monday, according to the plan, Tarini and his aides came in a bike and opened fire at the builder indiscriminately near a post office at the IRC Village here.

“We are investigating into the matter. We will nab the other culprits very soon,” said Singh.
