Two hardcore Maoists, including a woman, carrying bounties on their heads surrendered before police in Malkangiri district on Wednesday.
The surrendered duo was Rama Kawasi (38) of Bodigeta village under the Kalimela police limits in the district and Weli Madkami (25) of Bada Tekguda village in the district.
Rama worked as DCM in the Boipariguda Area Committee under the MKVB division under the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee of outlawed CPI(Maoist) organisation from the year 2002 and was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head.
He was involved in many cases including those of murder, blasting and arson. Weli worked as ACM in the Boipariguda Area Committee under the MKVB division under the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee of the CPI(Maoist) from the year 2006 and was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on her head.
