Unidentified miscreants hacked two persons over political rivalry in the Digapahandi area of Ganjam district on Friday.
Reports said three to four bike-borne persons attacked one Bijay Kumar Sethy at Karapada village with a sword and other sharp weapons. Later, they went to Deokhali Chhak where they hacked Krushna Sahu, a juice shop owner, with the weapons.
The victims sustained critical injuries in the attack and were hospitalised. The Nuagaon police have started investigation into the incidents while cops were deployed at Karapada village and Deokhali Chhak to avoid any further untoward incident.
Efforts were on by police to trace and apprehend the assailants, who fled the spot via the Karapada road.
