The Sahadevkhunta police on Wednesday arrested two four-wheeler lifters and forwarded them to court.
The miscreants were identified as Manas Ranjan Pal (25) and Balaram Behera (20) of Nuagobindapur village in Jajpur town. They were caught while fleeing with a Bolero which they had hired from taxi stand near Baleswar railway station in the pretext of going Jaleswar. They hired the taxi after negotiating the charge at Rs 1,200 for to and fro.
Instead of going to Jaleswar, they asked the driver, Dayanidhi Mahapatra, to go through a diversion as they wanted to pick up a man from Kuruda area. They asked the driver to fetch cold drink from a roadside shop and fled with the vehicle towards Cuttack. With the help of locals, the driver was able to catch them.
“They came by a bike which was stolen from Kuakhia,” said IIC Bijay Kumar Murmu.
