The police arrested two criminals on Tuesday on the charge of firing at an employee of a construction company on June 12 at the Manapur Chhak under the Jakhapura police station in Jajpur district.
The arrested criminals were identified as Anil Kumar Mallick (20) of Mangalpur under the Jakhapura PS and Papuni Mallick (23) of Chorda under the Jajpur Road PS. The police also seized a motorbike from them.
They had opened fire at one Prasanjit Sarkar (35) when he prevented them to loot `21.50 lakh from him. After withdrawing the money from bank, Sarkar, an employee of Sainath Construction Company at Kalinganagar along with his office colleagues was returning to their office.
Sarkar foiled the looters’ bid to snatch the money by showing courage, for which both the criminals opened fire at him. Sarkar suffered gunshot injuries on his hand. The criminals fled from the spot.
