Police on Tuesday arrested two brothers for allegedly beating a 25-year-old youth to death near Bahadalpur village under the Khandagiri police station here on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Sanjay Sahu and Samir Sahu, were arrested for the murder of Jyotiranjan Baliarsingh.
Jyotiranjan’s family members had lodged a complaint with police in this regard. During investigations, police ascertained the involvement of the two brothers in the murder and nabbed them.
The Airfield police registered a case in this connection.
The accused would be forwarded to court, a police official said.
According to police, Jyotiranjan and his two friends had heated arguments with a youth who was returning home with his mother by a motorcycle on Sunday night.
Following this, the youth called some villagers to settle the argument.
later, Jyotiranjan’s friends apologised and left the place. But he continued to argue with the villagers.
The argument took a gory turn when Jyotiranjan was beaten up severely leading to his death.
