Good news for wildlife lovers as two black tiger cubs were born at the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) here on Saturday.
Royal Bengal Tigress Renuka delivered the cubs. Both the tigress and her newborns were kept under CCTV surveillance, the NZP authorities said.
The first cub was born at 3.40 am and the second one in the afternoon. However, the genders of the newborns were yet to be ascertained.
Notably, the Nandankanan authorities had made arrangements for mating between tigress Renuka and tiger Samrat in the enclosure for increasing the zoo’s tiger population.
With birth of the new cubs, the big cat population in the zoo rose to 28, including nine white and four black.
