Wife lodges plaint with R’kela SP

The wife of a DSP-rank officer in the Commissionerate Police (CP) in Bhubaneswar has brought allegation of torture by her husband and met the Rourkela SP seeking justice.

She alleged that her husband has married another woman by keeping her in dark and was avoiding her and her son. Police are now investigating the case.

According to sources, accused Sangram Tudu is now working as a DSP in Bhubaneswar CP. On Monday, Tudu’s wife Dulari Tudu along with his 10-year- old son met general secretary of women organisation ‘Ashra’ and informed her about torture she is being subjected to by her husband.

Thereafter she along with his son and Ashra general secretary Minati Debata met Rourkela SP Umashankar Das and sought justice against the mental and physical torture by her husband. She complained that Sangram after getting promotion to the rank DSP was transferred to Bhubaneswar and later he had secretly got married to a woman bank employee. She further alleged that Sangram has been living with that woman bank employee at Bhubaneswar and has been torturing her (Dulari) physically and mentally and threatening her (Dulari) to kill her. Dulari threatened that if she won’t get justice, she and her son will commit suicide near the office of Superintendent of Police here.

Dulari and her son are now staying in the house of her elder sister at Jagda here. Dulari had tied knot with Sangram in 2009. Sangram during the year 2014 was posted as IIC at Chhend police station here and Sangram along with Dulari and their son  was staying at a house in Sector-20 here.

Dulari has alleged that Sangram married to another woman at Bhubaneswar, working as a bank employee and has been residing there. She said she came to know about her husband’s marriage with another woman through a friend.

On reaching Bhubaneswar, Dulari and her son tried to meet Sangram. But the latter had put them up in a hotel and tried to maintain distance. Dulari further alleged that her FIR was not accepted since Sangram was a senior police officer.

When she did not get justice from Women police station, she filed petition in the SDJM Court on April 14 and the court had ordered women police station here to register case. After getting order from court, Women police station had registered case against Sangram.

“Based on the FIR, the case was registered. The investigation is on now,” said Rourkela SP Umashankar Das.
